All Lives Matter Poem by Simon Gowen

All Lives Matter

There's trouble brewing
Down in town
The sirens start to scream
As people run for cover then
The live feeds start to stream.

Police charge, heavy handed
Knocking people to the ground
Then suddenly you hear it
That terrifying sound

Gunshots all around me
A baton to my head
I fall and lay there bleeding
They kneel on me, I'm dead! !

An innocent, lifeless victim
A death caused by mistake
I ran because I panicked
A chance I thought I'd take.

The police chief said they're sorry
His officer is new
It was his life ambition
To join the boys in blue.

His training didn't help him
When we began to scatter
He drew his gun, and fired those shots
My life to him, di'nt matter

His working life is over
He's taken to the drink
And all because he took my life
And not the time to think.

"Protect and serve" they take an oath
This isn't idle chatter
Put down your gun and talk with me
You'll see that ALL LIVES MATTER.
