Alf
She's the girl from Billericay
With the warm and gripping voice
If I had to pick a singer
Without fail she'd be my choice
We've spent the years together
But a thousand miles apart
I genuinely love this woman
Purely for her art
She first caught my attention
When she wrote and sang with Vince
The Changeling came into my life
She's been there ever since
She will grab you with a ballad
Enthral you with a song
Amuse you with her funny tweets
The woman does no wrong
So if you want to treat a loved one
Then what more can I say
Play to them a song sung by
Geneviève Alison Jane Moyet
An amusing, and well written piece Simon. I don't know much about the woman, or her music, but why did she used to be called Alf pray tell?
You are obviously a great fan of the lady Simon - well penned.

Her common name is Alison Moyet. Alf was her nickname from a young age, and apparently it stuck. Well worth a listen....go on....treat your ears.
