All That Media Poem by Phil Soar

All That Media

Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and such
Not things that I have entertained much
I might use a hashtag if I feel the need
But truly, I don't understand twitter feeds

I've never been tempted to join all the banter
I've only been 'social' when I wrote to santa
As a child I would write about monsters and dreams
It was all made up nonsense, like all media seems

Fake news wasn't heard of, and the world seemed so small
And now it's available, for one and for all
I only post letters, and nothing sublime
I haven't the notion, nor have I the time

I do like to surf, but that's just on a board
With waves underneath me, I'd never be bored
And the more that I think of what I can afford
I cannot be tempted to travel abroad

When the world is so close, at the click of a mouse
I can sit in the study, and watch from the house
And if ever I think that I'm on the wrong site
A click will then take me to somewhere I like

So keep all the nonsense I see on the net
I haven't the patience to get involved yet
I can say what I like when I'm sitting at home
And the pleasure I get, is just being alone

With no need to mix pleasure with everyone else
To post all my thoughts that I've made up myself
If it's true or made up, then no-one will care
I'll file thoughts in my head, and just leave them there
