Allegations To Make Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Allegations To Make

Allegations to make,
May put a dent in one's reputation.
With free publicity.
One neither needs or seek.
Yet,
If one should admit,
To outrageous behavior.
And misdeeds to have done,
From a past that no one has asked.
This leaves gossipers and dirt turners,
With nothing controversial to discuss.
Since there is nothing left,
That is worthy of whispers.
If the one talked about,
Has chosen to do publicly...
With others do secretly to lie and deny.

"But,
Why would you think,
I'd be perfect to run for congress.
I've exposed everything.
And even admitted to it."

-This we know.
And today,
What you did long ago to admit.
And have it documented too.
Would make people prefer,
Watching grass to grow.
Since we have already determined,
You are too quick to be honest.
Boring and dependable.
And that kind of leadership has been missed.-

"Oh.
So you think I'm boring? "

-Very.
But the kind of boring,
We can depend upon.
It's reliable.-
