Alone In Society Poem by Melissa Barber

Alone In Society

At lunch he sits all alone
Some might say he’s a loner
But he’s no stoner
He isn’t in on the latest cliques
He doesn’t watch much of the flicks
And doesn’t get many chicks

She’s a loner
And sits with stoners
You always see her around
Saying “hi” to everyone she meets
With a smile on her face
There’s no doubt that she’s friendly
She’s the girl everyone envies

Although, both are alone inside
Both have different ways of showing it
Wondering where they fit
Fit into what society wants and needs
Them to be
They aren’t able to see
That true beauty lies within
