Although Perfect Images Come To My Mind (English Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

Although Perfect Images Come To My Mind (English Sonnet)

A slight breeze stirred through the new green grass
that sprouted after the first spring showers,
time did far too quickly in the veldt pass
while we both were looking for small flowers,

with brilliant colour and intricate design
and near fluttering was a dragonfly,
while as a real happy wife you were mine.
Black swallows winged their way in the sky,

there were birdcalls all around and above.
Very distant now is that happy day
where I thought that you did me truly love.
Separate as you wish, I am away.

Although perfect images come to my mind,
now in you I do only heartache find
