Am I Too Old To Write Anything Anymore? Poem by Shalom Freedman

Am I Too Old To Write Anything Anymore?

Am I too old to write anything anymore?
Am I too old to expect anyone to be interested in what I do?
Haven't I had my chance already
And shouldn't I be silent
And let the younger voices be heard?

No one listens or reads me very much anyway
I do not take anyone's space or opportunity
New stars will shine
With or without my permission or encouragement

I can continue to write my little lines
Who cares anyway?
As it was when I was young
So it is now that I am old
No one listens or reads very much
Because I have never been that good anyway

Harmless is as harmless was
I can continue with my nonsense
If these little lines keep me going
And give me some small hope and happiness
Let them be written
As I am writing them now.

Brilliant writing! A writer will write as long as the ideas keep coming. A 10.
