Amazon: Lungs Of Earth On Fire Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

The woods of Amazon are raging bright,
Glowing light of the day where reigns all night,

The World of Wealth's whilst gripped with mortal fear
That global warming would take to high gear.

EU wants Brazil to do this and that,
Brazil: no'ne on their national pitch should bat.

A billion-buck conservation programme
Comes in to catalyse, jumble the jam.

The wrangle goes on, house raging with fire,
And lungs of Earth sink in quick-silver mire.

For, Amazon is greenest of heaven
That breathes out one-fifth of Earth's oxygen.

Divided, the world still wants to discuss—
EU and G7 in the same bus!

Yet, sans Brazil— the patient who's been ill,
O what avail is doctor's potent pill?

And whilst the bad blood goes endless on,
Poor Amazon, an orphan's left to burn.

And Kipling's poetic lines come to mind—
The lines that long years back were lined.

All the people like us are ‘we',
‘They'— all else as I see!
