An Angel In Coral Or Carmine Headlong

an angel in carmine or coral or most intensely rose so
headlong appeared behind a lacework's winter branching of trees...
cloud angel, I whispered it seems this January, snow soft, aloft

our God is already showing off.
as a child I would have sought
that angel in pastels, chalks in vain

oh Heaven must be where all His paintings remain
on all the skies ever made, coming and going
and all aflame and never burning down

at least, I dream of it that way
whenever Glory comes to town.
