A book there, on that shelf,
evoked questions to ask myself.
Empty cover, not adorned with elf -
still, it was taken from that shelf.
I wondered, wrapped a blanket around,
how someone could love what's hollow, bound,
even make wound seem a pound,
and empty cover give feel of diamond found.
One day, the page turned -
in the same place, hands now yearned.
In that corner, my fingers reached,
a heart once closed, now safely beseeched.
And there I found, as truth was preached -
an answer to what I once preached.
