An Eclipse Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

It saddened me
When saw moon darkened
With dark patch on face
The eclipse was seen with naked eyes

What a sad way to witness!
The dark moon's face
That too on full moon day
I thought beautiful things too end one day

Yes it strayed for an hour or so
But beauty was surrounded by shadow
I felt pain and watched through window
I just dropped few tears and allowed

It occurred many years after
But left behind to feel sadder
It was not liked by any artist
Or that matter by palmist too

We took it as curse
Observed event with remorse
All religious precautions under gone
Hymns were sung and prayers were taken
