An Elegy On The Death Of A Good Old Friend Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

An Elegy On The Death Of A Good Old Friend

Rating: 5.0

We are grieving for having lost a good old faithful friend
Who for us was a beacon resting upon a tower of strength
Though he was always besides us with a warm and radiant smile
Now he has sailed away into the beyond where the distance can no longer be measured in kilometers or mile.

His sudden and unexpected departure has left many of us shell-shocked
Making it almost impossible for us to believe that the door to him has been forever bolted and blocked
Sometimes it appears that he true to his prankish nature may turn up at the bend
And that his loving face may show-up once again any second.

The love he shared with us shall never be forgotten
For it is scripted in our heart and embossed in gold with a free flowing and generous pen
Though time may conspire to slowly fade him from our memory
It shall never in our lifetime succeed to consign him to pages of history.
