An Emotionally Wounded Veteran Poem by Dorsey Baker

An Emotionally Wounded Veteran

Cackling hens
in the barnyard
their voices
cannot
be ignored
the sound awakens him!
the morning sun
its bright eyes
look down
upon the farm
its a big
and busy place
night is coming
as the skies
begin to darken
and its stillness
makes the loudest
and most
disturbing sound!
because then
the war
and the battlefield
comes alive!
again and again!
