Ancient Poetry - Poem by Luo Zhihai

★ Ancient Poetry

☆ Poetry by Li Qi (690-751, Tang Dynasty, China)
☆ Translation by Luo Zhihai (1954-, China)

Men, they did battle in the long-term
From their childhood, they travelled Youyan for pleasure
Galloped. Handbookinger
In order to win, defied personal danger
Fought at close quarters, enemies couldn’t come forward
Beards like erecting hairs of hedgehog
Yellow clouds and sands before, white clouds behind
For repaying kindness of motherland, they couldn’t return home
Little woman of Liaodong. She was fifteen years old
Played Pipa well, skilled in singing and dancing
Now she played “Go to Fortress” with qiang-flute
Let our arms be in a flood of tears soon

China has some very good poets. Their poetry, at times, tends to be rather short, but compact in meaning.

I know that in translation this poem lose something, but perhaps you gave it a good one. i can`t tell for i don read that language, but a good poem nevertheless.

Thanks for sharing this one with us!
