And Grieve No More

In the wastelands of my heart
A small bird sings
Unconscious that on the horizon
The sun is falling down
Unknowing, rhapsodic is his theme
And soon the light will fade.
Why cannot I
In the midst of gloom
Take up again the song I used to sing
With clarity of falling rain
With the green woods surrounding me again
Without revealing any pain
Sing the sun back into the skies
And grieve no more.
