And Last Word Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

And Last Word

Rating: 2.8

I feel happy and fine
But I know tomorrow is not mine
It is pinching with pain
He may be gone in monsoon rain

He is my first love
“So young and energetic” I believe
But the expectation is belied
He concealed the sickness and lied

I am looking at his face
Totally unconcerned and out of race
He must be revived to be strong
Stay with me for a long

I looked at sky
But could not ask why
It seemed me hollow
I found no answer with blue glow

He will smile with me
To make me feel free
I knew he has counted days
May live for few days more and go away

But I wanted to cry silently
I could not do it presently
I feared that it may make him weak
I could not even honestly speak

He coughed more last night
I rushed to his help and held his hand right
“I am sorry” could not take you along
“I thought I may battle out” but proved wrong

He was so much assertive
In his approach very much positive
I looked in his eyes again
He was silent and not to regain

I am left alone
Even though he is gone
I may continue with his unfinished work
Honor his wishes and last word
