And Must Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

And Must

And must

Selfishly,
Selflessly,
Obliged!

I must,
I must,
I must!

Think,
Breathe,
And Talk!

As if some vase,
As a treasure chest,
And as an ancient grave

I must,
I must,
I must!

Open,
Expose,
Hand over!

Deposits are not mine,
I must return to the owners.

I must,
I must,
I must!

When I was born in the mountains,
When I was raised in farms and plains,
And when I was a long travelling passenger,

I was theirs,
Their ears,
Their eyes,
Their agent,
Their hearts,
So, I am theirs.

I must,
I must,
I must!

Be brave,
Be honest,
And Report.

Breeze is soft,
Great is musk,
Lovely is peace,
Evil is the politics.

My masters,
My feeders,
My bosses,

I must,
I must,
I must!

And I do, willingly,
Lovingly, freely,
Confess to:
Having crossed many borders,
Not as me but
As a no one, or someone else,
As a wind going over the oceans,
As a wild unleased hurricane,
As an underwater current,
And I said: "Hello, "
And I hugged,
And I dined,
And I wined,
And I shook hands of…

Those with power,
Those in miser and hardship,
And I preferred the homeless,
I was limited in choices,
I did so because I must,
Yes, I must, I must!
