And So I Envy You..... Poem by RIC BASTASA

And So I Envy You.....

early morning walks
under the acacia trees
cold winds, silent paths
around the bushes
one contemplates where
is this world going
one still sees the fading
stars, one still pierces
the receding twilight

it was on tv and over the
radio of this local station
roger committed suicide
while mario just gunned down
a notorious man less his
regrets.

the world moves round and
round
the sun sits there
with all the indifference
of a glowing inanimate.

you are throwing mud
at the face of our leader
you are a woman without shame
tactless and preoccupied with
nothing but your kind of art.

this world is like a boat
rowing round and round
driven by two people in
opposite directions.

you dream you wish you imagine
and so i envy you.
