And the wheel rolled on
Down and down picking up speed gathering no moss
Sweeping aside all standing in the way
Leaving deep ruts in its wake, all men at a loss
Where it would end, whom it would crush, no one could say
And the wheel rolled on
Out of control, no turning back, where will it stop?
Now with a mind of its own, following a new path
Will it take man to the pit of despair or place him at the top?
Creating forms as yet seen, who can guess the aftermath
And the wheel rolled on
Scared of what lay ahead? Or proud of what we could achieve
Could it be heaven we yearn for or could it be hell?
Cures for deadly diseases, and things we dare to believe
Or carnage and petilence, the downfall of man, who can tell?
And the wheel rolled on
Faster and faster too late to pause, too late to think
Ethics take a back seat, no holes barred, all boundaries gone
Progress will take us to the promise land or to the brink
Either way, we have our wish, and the wheel rolls on.
