And Then Comes April Poem by Amar Agarwala

And Then Comes April

And then came April and I saw
Darkened clouds and sunny days,
Fruit rich trees and greening fields
Cattle trodding dusty ways;

And then upon an April morn
Heard a cuckoo in the glade,
A restive wind on waters' edge
Blooms waltzing in dappled shade;

And then came in an April Noon
Yellow sun and humid air,
My brow laden with sweat and grime
Long days steeped in work and care.

And then the April dusk relayed
Venus of a longing plea,
To balm my wearied lovelorn soul
And bless it with blithesome glee.

And then that April nocturne sweet
Of harvest moon staring pale,
A moping owl begging the night
For lullabies to regale.

And then I knew it will depart
With spring inside its bower,
It bid me a sweet farewell with
A spry and blushful shower.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
April is here. It is the harbinger of summers as spring slowly tip-toes away
with the fading echoes of the cuckoo's song. The lush green foliage, the fruit-rich laden boughs and the lengthening days seem to tell us to gear up for the heat ahead. Perhaps it is nature's way of telling us to prepare for the future which is fraught with so many uncertainties and traumas, yet laced within lies hope that we shall be able to wither it all. It is this enduring spirit in man that makes him tolerate this and so much more.

Dear Kelly, So sorry to have missed your comment. Thank you for reading and liking these verses. I am still learning English... that I may express my thoughts better. But then the deepest feelings can never quite be expresses. Best Wishes!
