And There You Were Poem by Heather Z. Hanna

And There You Were

Gone.
Long gone.
How long?
How was I to know?
So I wondered, watched and waited
Worried, wishful and wasted
So much energy
Trying to understand
What was happening to me.
My emotions running high and low
From laughing to crying
Living to dying.
Would you be back?
That is what I need to know.
So I wondered, watched and waited
Worried, wishful and wasted
So much energy
Burning up my imagination.
So I decided to let you go.
And took the steps
To free myself
With one last step
I waited
There was no rush to find
That you wouldn't be back.

And then, there you were.
