Life is dark shades
of deep blues and greens,
and most days
I don't even know what it means-
Only so many sunrises
and so many sunsets,
at birth we're dealt our hand
and spend our years placing bets-
Going from game to game
mostly losing and paying our due,
hoping to be blessed
and win just a few-
In the dark, a soft place
to lay your old head,
is perhaps the best we can hope for
before we're dead-
I have this angel, she understands
'bout being weary and worn,
and she knows the difference
'tween pearls and thorns-
When my heart feels
broke, blurry and bent,
she prays for me
with a love Heaven sent-
And if Heaven's not a place we're bound,
just the state of a deep blue mind,
then we'll hold it together
until it's in our hearts we find-
Another great one Smoky. Sometimes I wish I had an angel to look out for me. I gave it a 10.
Sunrise we see and sunset we see. We see and feel life around us and the darker shadows. This poem is brilliantly penned. We offer prayer with greater hopes. This poem is brilliant...10

Beautiful thoughts. I love the title. I think you are a blue-lover, just like me. Have always loved the color blue.. the deep color of oceans, skies and bottomless poetry. ;)
