Apostrophe Atrophied And Killed Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Apostrophe Atrophied And Killed

She was blamed to be so possessive,
Blamed to kill poor vowels all alive,
When they with crock tears wept,
She laughed once they all left:
I've done well for a good cause to strive.

In a wrong place did we all her drive,
And refuse still to be labelled naïve,
Each us a cold killer,
We've no right to mourn her,
We should hide our head in a beehive.

The Apostrophe Protection Society (APS)was formed in UK to save apostrophe from disuse and extinction. It struggled for long but failed at last, crying ‘ignorance and laziness' of the current lot of users— we all. And it had to close down. This double limerick laments in vain. Apostrophe was for long on a life-support system, but had to be declared dead. She has gone the way good old hyphen had some time back. May she with the hyphen REP.

We have no time to write perfect language, hyphen has almost gone, now apostrophe, metered poems are no more, gone is the verse, and prose is poetry. What next? Thanks for visiting.
