Are You Coming? Poem by Crystal Pierce

Are You Coming?

Rating: 5.0

Are you coming to the tree?
They told me to when I was set free.
They said I could play here.
they told me to stay here.

I've been here for a while,
so company makes me smile.
They never explained why they left.
They just went and left.

Do you want to stay?
I have fun games to play.
Just come lay down near me,
and then we can be free.

Oh, you have seemed to have noticed my secret!
Oh can you keep it?
I am dead as you can tell.
But my time dead has been swell.

Those people put a bullet in my head
while I was laying in my bed.
They brought me here to this tree,
for my soul to be free.

Do you want to join me?
Do you want to hang around the tree?
Come stay.
There's a lot of games to play.

So are you coming?
Are you, are you coming?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Every day we here about people dying in some way. Well this is a story of a girl who had a bullet put through her head. I actually wrote the story about her in language class for an assignment. It brought tears to my classmates eyes as I read the story. In the story her parents were the ones who put the bullet in her head as she slept. This is real life. People do this kind of stuff every day. I just want to bring up that this is how life is now.
