Aretha, The Unrivaled Singing Bird Poem by Hebert Logerie

Aretha, The Unrivaled Singing Bird

The unparalleled singing bird is gone
But her mellifluous voice stays on
To fight for freedom, fairness and equality
To spread the seeds of love, respect and dignity
Aretha Franklin could hit any high notes with ease
That's genuine, that's real, and that's not a tease
Aretha is no longer with us. She passed away today
Today is her turn. Ours is not too far away
Let's pay homage to this natural woman
Who had an incredible voice and a superb acumen
Ms. Franklin had won countless awards
She was a magnanimous fighter
A philanthropist and a priceless civil rights sister
She was well known in the neck of the woods
And throughout the world. She will be missed
By the fans and countless admirers. The list
Of friends would be too long if I were to enumerate
Aretha was a genius, a genuine masterpiece
She was a star, a divine diva, which can illuminate
The world with her God-given melodious voice
Aretha Franklin, the mockingbird, the skylark is gone
But her dreams stay on, her music and crafts live on
Her songs will reverberate in our ears like an eternal chime
And the world will enjoy her voice until the end of time.
