Armistice Poem by Barry Middleton

Armistice

Black sky, what secret
do you mask
beyond the farthest stars,

beyond our time,
beyond our kind,
beyond our darkest wars?

No man can know
the Universe.
The armistice may wait

where peace abides,
and stardust hides
a shining silver gate.

I have been sensing a shift in your writing for awhile now. This is beautifully written and conceived. The imagery is simple yet compelling. You've done a nice job of conveying your message in as few words as possible. No man can know the universe. Well done. Thanks for sharing.

This poem was written about a year ago. I think what I write is largely governed by my mood of the moment. Thanks for reading and commenting.
