Aye mere watan ke logo (Oh people of my motherland)
Reminiscence flows in Lata ji's mellifluous voice to
Make Indians inspire with patriotic spirit, recall
Years long freedom struggle and the sacrifices of soldiers.

Dear beloved soldiers, sincere and warm salutes from our hearts;
An old adage says: you are wide awake to give us sound sleep
Yes, you are the real heroes of our motherland, Jai Hind
