As Crooked As A Ram's Horn Poem by Francis Duggan

As Crooked As A Ram's Horn

You have heard the old saying as crooked as a ram's horn
The truly honest politician perhaps has yet to be born
Even the politician near to being honest to most questions give an ambiguous reply
And if the truth will hurt their re-election chances the truth they will deny
One has to suppose in politics honesty does not pay
At least anyhow it does seem this way
To most politicians to lie is okay
In politics it does seem deception does pay
Of worthy politicians so few one could name
For their own broken promises their political opponents they blame
You must be naïve if you believe everything a politician does say
Deception is the game that politicians do play
On a huge pension for life from politics they retire
Yet about them there is nothing for to admire.
