He proclaimed today was the day of touch
As each hour or the moment you know it's missed
Sitting on the couch, reassurance is touch
Love is reassurance by touch

I am not a man who lied about love
Nor found our time to be a continual performance on my part
Love is casual familiarity
And today she told me something new
And like a a sequel that I didn't know existed to a book I really enjoy
It filled the tank of love and gave new polish to fading crystal

The connection is more than expression, when fingertips press the back of her hand or when she pinches my leg
The battery has been reset and that's a love whose depth cannot be measured by an echo sounder

Today I told her her something new
And she said "you'll always be my encyclopedia"
Love is much more than presence, love is being acknowledged by touch and listened to willingly
