As If Untouchable Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

As If Untouchable

Rating: 5.0

So many ungrateful,
For the blessings they have easily received.
Believed themselves untouchable.
And have arrived to pass judgement.
With it done to lie.
Deceiving whom they please.
Although from a mindset sick.
Dedicated to meddling in affairs not theirs.
And caring less to take time,
Doing it minding their own business.
Overindulged and obvious,
Self importance is an obsession...
Difficult to identify.
And denying it to rid.

Folks like this have not yet learned,
To prioritize appreciation to express it.
Somewhere over their rainbows,
This opportunity was missed.
How is it that God can be taken,
For granted like this?
And how long can others,
Put up with this...nonsense.
Coming out of the mouths of the mindless.
Who can not accept,
Respect and kindness.
From the ones with patience,
But making no excuses for losing it.
Doing their best to bite their lips.
Knowing they can turn a back,
Faster than an eyelash batted.

These folks don't realize,
Whose prayers have kept them...
On the good side of God.

And perhaps,
A lesson not yet to be learned...
Is in need to be applied with more emphasis.

There's no time like the right time found,
When truth appears to be made known.
And shown to those brought to their knees.
With a dose of enlightenment.
Effective in touching the untouchable.

A very thoughtful analysis of the social-cultural aspects upon which the question of untouchability hangs. Nice portrayal. Thank you, Sir.
