As One Season Closes Poem by David Harris

As One Season Closes

As one season closes
so another begins.
As the grey skies of winter
open up to the blue ones of spring
and the new growth it brings
followed by the brightness of summer
and the dying colours of autumn
before winter touches us again.

Our lives follow the pattern
with our birth and childhood
before it leads us into our youth
when we aspire to all things wonderful
and our golden days of adult hood
where our dreams aspire
before old age captures us
and death takes us to be reborn again.
