Assuming - Poem by Bonnie B Long

Assuming makes an ass out of you and me
It causes nothing but pain as far as I can see
Assuming the worst is nothing but wrong
But it does make you strong

Strong to shoulder the hurt and pain
Why should you assume you have nothing to gain
Why cause yourself grief and stress
It does nothing but cause a mess

Take each day as it comes
Don’t be ready to accept crumbs
Go for your dreams what have you to lose
Except to get rid of your blues
