At Night Crossed The River

★ At Night Crossed the River

☆ Poetry by Yao Chong (651-721, Tang Dynasty, China)
☆ Translation by Luo Zhihai (1954-, China)

A small island among the floating smoke at night
The far, vast and dark sky
The boat unknowingly moving light
Cable twisted ropes tightened and knew it was pulled
Listened to someone in the grass then look for the shore
Smelt the fragrance and knew lotuses near in dark
Only the shadow of a sail alone, I saw
Often seems the guest’s hanging heart

Note: Yao Chong (651 - 721) , a famous politician in the Tang Dynasty. Did the prime minister twice.
