Autumn's Witching Spell Poem by Clive Culverhouse

Autumn's Witching Spell

Rating: 5.0

Darkness creeps into the days
And dampness clogs the shapes of leaves
As air is turning onto breath
While eyes peer out of gnarly trees
And creatures lurk and loom in sly
Of shadows under greying sky
Nature's lure is on the turn
Towards the secret world below
Where deathly screams of nightly ghost
Demanding fear with blooding flow
When graveyards stir and murmur make
The spectral hands on prowl to take
When sleepless hunters cast their eye
And demons hide in hedges round
They watch and wait for souls to pass
The frosty pasture's hazy ground
The presence causing skin to crawl
Is felt now deeper with the fall
The full moon lights a clearing sky
And calls to those muddied in fowl
The beasts of night come gather to
Pierce the solitude with howl
As nightmares show the mind their hell
Under autumn's witching spell
