Avant De Quitter La Scene. (Translation) .
Avant que je quitte la scene
Je chanterai la seule chanson
Que je fus vraiment destinee a chanter.
C'est la chanson
de JE SUIS.

Toi.
NOUS SOMMES.
Je Nous aime de chaque goutte
de notre sang
tous les atomes de nos cellules
de nos particules flottantes

Alice Walker (b.1944 Georgia) .
This is a love poem with a difference. It is a song concerning her own self, 'I am Me'. In addition, She identifies so closely with her loved one that she loves 'Us'. They are like no longer two separate individuals. Alice Walker married a lawyer, but they divorced and later she related closely to a singer. Her private life was her business and nobody else's.
Alice identified fully with Civil Rights issues of the 1960s and beyond and she met Martin Luther King.
