Awareness Poem by Bryan Taplits

Awareness

Rating: 5.0

Perhaps again I'll see it
When I get another broom,
The rubric of a child
His face uncluttered room.

For adults we are but
Adulterated, by other climes and casts
"Naivete" no longer optional-
One hopes that one just lasts.

But a child that I saw this day-
His face unencumbered joy-
He shouted some remembered words
As if they were his toys.

And though the words to him had meaning
In his cauldron of bubbling prose,
The young boy with eyes a'gleaming
Puffed his chest out at the words he crowed.

Oh, what I wouldn't give-
My wealth and all my gems,
To once more be that boy anew-
To be him once again.
