B.S.A. Poem by Ima Ryma

B.S.A.

Boy Scouts, initialed B.S.A.
Founder Boyce was rumored to be,
Divorced twice, a closeted gay.
Known homosexuality
Was deemed to demean the Scout oath -
Be moral in thought and word and deed.
Good gay and good Scout - I was both.
And I still am in life I lead.
I joined the Scouts at a young age.
Sexuality was unknown.
As Scout I grew into that stage
Of me, that I would not disown.

My fellows knew. I stayed a Scout.
That's what Scouting should be about.
