Baby Eagle Poem by Jim Yerman

Baby Eagle

Baby eagle stood on the edge of the nest her parents had lovingly made.
"I'm too young...I'm not ready." she said looking down, "Momma, I'm too afraid."

"No need to be afraid." Momma said. "No need to worry at all,
for I will always be here...to catch you if you fall."

Baby eagle nodded, took a deep breath...then jumped into the sky...
"Momma! " she cried after flailing a moment..."Momma...I can fly! "
