Back To My Youth Poem by Jayne Louise Davies

Back To My Youth

Rating: 5.0

There's no going back to the days of our youth,
But those days we can never forget,
Those disco nights and fashion trends,
And the good friends back then that we met.
For that was a part of who we are,
Pop music was trendy and good,
And we would do it all over again,
In an instant if we could.
There were no mobile phones,
Lived in coal fire homes,
No internet games to play,
But we made the most of what we had,
Fun was a part of our day.
We'd flock to the local cafe at night,
Drink a coke and we'd play on the flipper,
Also known as a pinball machine,
It was fun just being a nipper.
What we never had,
We never missed,
And life was such a ball,
The kids of today,
Don't know they are born,
For now they just have it all.
We were happy with life,
In those bygone days,
Lost with the youth of the past,
I treasure those days,
In so many ways,
It's a shame that the good times don't last.
