Back Where It Belonged Poem by Nidhi Agrawal

Back Where It Belonged

I squeezed out my heart
and hung it up to dry
All feelings laid bare
for the world to stare.
Daring them to make fun
But hoping they wouldn't.
They silently looked on
and slowly moved on.
Not willing to hazard a guess
at what could've made this mess.
Some lingering to comment
Others lowering their heads.
None wanting to rescue
this wrung out heart of mine
No one offering to water
this parched heart of mine.
A hard lesson I learned
Put my heart back
where it belonged.

This poem is extremely touching. The image of your wrung out heart is so moving. Excellent poem.

Thanks Laurie for reading and appreciating. Sounds a bit grim but we all feel like this sometimes.
