Backstage Cake Makers Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Backstage Cake Makers

The one thing liars can not do,
Is to defend themselves...
Against the truth.

They may hide behind denials.
Pretend their innocence,
With the weeping of tears.
And begin to convince others,
Their best portrayals...
Of lives lived being victims.
But it has been the telling of lies,
Deceiving, backstabbing, duping...
That eventually rises,
Like a caked baked with frosting.
No one knows the taste of it.
Until they do.
Some may enjoy what it is,
Based upon looks alone.
But it is the digesting of nonsense,
Fed and served up by those wicked...
That becomes too late,
To use excuses to make.
Especially after creating the B.S.

The one thing liars can not do,
Is to defend themselves...
Against the truth.
And the trouble makers,
With the loudest of mouths...
Are nowhere around,
Bragging about the conflicts and confusion...
They started to begin.
Seldom do cowards,
Make that kind of personal appearance.
It's backstage where their best work is done!
