Baptized In Polluted Water Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Baptized In Polluted Water

It may not be the truth,
Most people fear.
It may be,
A way to overcome...
Embarrassing decisions.
Made to support and endorse,
A wrong direction taken.
They know that has led them,
To a place they had created.
But unable to excuse or fake,
The unexpected outcome.
Yet welcomed in the hopes,
The choice they chose...
Could not possibly leave them,
Facing how terrible...
Truth can be when ignored!

'You were repeatedly told,
Not to follow...
Anyone claiming,
They had been chosen...
To clean a swamp.
Yet...
Began to baptize you,
In its polluted water.
What claim can you make,
That places blame...
On someone else?
To fault them for what you did.
With eyes.
Ears and noses open.'
