Farmers and ranchers long desire
To fence the property they own.
Most economical is wire
To indicate do not cross zone.
With 1800's wild west
Cattle biz in the U.S.A.,
It was found that barb wire was best
So cattle would not roam astray.
Just wire alone the cattle could
Easily press against and through,
And with such will the cattle would,
So the stringing of barb wire grew.
When barb wire was pushed by a cow,
Resulting prick did bring an 'Ow! '

Good one! And true! Way out West, in the wide-open, empty spaces, many Cowboys cursed what we often called 'Bob-wire'. But, then we loved to make up poems about it too! For Cowboys the fence is often a 'love-hate' relationship.
