Battle Dawn Tribute Poem by Naomi Waters

Battle Dawn Tribute

Rating: 5.0

I must hold fast to my strategy
I know that anger erases all rational reflection
My power is mine one which I watch
The hour that is a breeding ground of my fury
Is waiting upon the brink of dawn
In every way I am both mother and queen
Precious children which I raised from their youth
Valiantly banded together beneath a colored flag
An army patiently awaiting my orders
The knowledge revealed to us all of our enemies plans
Hatred burns in my heart
A lust for vengeance awoken within me
This battle field is our final stand
If it becomes our end the kingdom shall be their prize
Our enemy spells death
I know if they succeed
The daughter I love will rise to the mantle of queen
She will be forced to witness the end of an era
This war brings the end of my line
It shall finish off my heralds and friends
So I swear
By all the stars that have ever shone
By all our gods both known and unknown
The intruders will rest under the kiss of my blade

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a tribute I wrote for the song Battle Dawn by Mercedes Lackey it is an absolutely stunning song that both I and my art teacher love. In my opinion it Mercedes songs should be performed at Renaissance Fairs because they fit them almost perfectly. The ones that fit the best are Cost of the Crown and Battle Dawn. So this was just a product for fun, it takes me longer to write a poem if I give myself a specific topic which is why I write faster when I just write what im feeling at the time. If the feeling fades then I get stuck. This took me 2 days to write because one I have a life and two I had a terrible case of writers block which i've gotten over.
