' ' ' ' Battle Of The Little Big Pond(For Onelia) Poem by Dónall Dempsey

' ' ' ' Battle Of The Little Big Pond(For Onelia)

Rating: 2.8

A swarm
of dragonflies

invade the kingdom
of the pond

where I the King
of silence am

my peace of mind
besieged now

by this
terrifying host

monstrous in their magnificence

to this
tiny child

inspiring fear
akin
to Genghis Khan.

I run
for dear life

beat a hasty retreat
through these awesome hordes

live
to tell the tale

of my
survival

to
chuckling
Aunt & Uncle.

The closing lines made me laugh aloud... live to tell the tale of my survival to chuckling Aunt & Uncle :) after the whole imposing battle of the little big pond - these chuckling aunt and uncle faces send me back to reality :)
