Be It As It Is Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Be It As It Is

Be it as it is...
Truth to ignore.
Slammed upon,
In front or behind closed doors.
Will still exist.
To resist, deny.
Or admitted to permit.
Be it as it is.

Facts to distract them,
Remain facts.
No matter who,
Entertains distractions.

If you happen to be born,
Blessed with freedoms to choose.
Done with this to prove.
Why is this 'proof' of your choosing,
Often results...
In your finding excuses to use,
For mentally or physically...
Abusing others?

Is this your depiction,
Of an entitlement?
A right to feed your appetite.
A supported endorsement,
To do what you like.
Or dislike and ignite,
Whatever it is...
That makes you uptight day and night?

Well...
Be it as it is,
With or without insight.
The only freedom,
You and many others are given to have...
Is to be deceived and left believing,
What you do to others...
Is not yours to pay for.
Indirectly.
Or directly out of your pocket.
Be it as it is.
High, low or below the gutter.
Denial to live it,
Eventually invites truth to visit.

And...
Choosing to refuse,
The expense of ignorance.
Can and could be,
A detrimental decision to make.
Before and many days to come after,
Hindsight occurs...
To remove deception,
From the eyes of those...
Left thoughtless, mindless and blinded.
With belief to accept themselves exceptions.
Expecting more and not less they get.
Be it as it is.
Anyone can choose to ignore the truth.
But the truth will be theirs to receive,
Whether to like or dislike...
The price and cost of it to ignore.

"This...
Catastrophe is overwhelming.
I don't know how much more I can take."

-Things will get better.
Which catastrophe are you talking about?
The pandemic?
The fires?
The hurricanes?
The ignorance?
The deception, the lies, division...
Conflicts, racism?
Which one?

HEY! STOP SCREAMING.
DON'T RUN AWAY LIKE THAT!
PEOPLE WILL THINK YOU HAVE LOST YOUR MIND!

Wow.
What did I say?
He only had to pick one.
Geesshhh.
Maybe it's true what they say.
Some folks can not accept what time it is.
But then again...
Be it as it is,
What time is it? -
