Be Yourself Poem by Dr. Antony Theodore

Be Yourself

Rating: 5.0

Be conscious about being truthful.
Resist the urge to accommodate my truth away.
Being who I really am is not forbidden
just because others are uncomfortable with me.

The cost of not being who you are
is busying oneself pleasing all others.
Then a precious part of you die inside.
There will be internal conflict to deal with.

If we choose to avoid conflict with others,
we will eventually breed conflict within ourselves.

Attend to your inner lives
Even when it creates discord
with those who would have us
be something else according to their will.

We are required to maintain a fine balance with others. Let us not forget our duty towards our own self: If we choose to avoid conflict with others, we will eventually breed conflict within ourselves.

Be true to thyself! To know oneself is a journey of wisdom and learning to love oneself is to create harmony in our lives!

That's well-articulated wisdom. Our inner self is most important. If we spend life pleasing others n living according to their wishes, we lose our true selves. Such life cannot give real happiness. I totally agree with your view that you have presented so beautifully.
