Bearing With Gratitude Poem by fraidoon warasta

Bearing With Gratitude

even the murmuring rain knows it
that reading a verse of pain
is not every person's work

by declaring to be
the real men
there are still some
who murder their mothers

in this case
one should dare
to strangle
their paper guns

one should dare to be ordinary
one should dare to be strange
one should dare to be vulnerable
an outsider
because being ordinary
is being perfectly
obscure

manliness is the biggest delusion
creeping under the ragged coat
of our civilization

the earth is a woman
receptively bearing
with gratitude
any pain
whatsoever
