Beating The Odds Poem by Walterrean Salley

Beating The Odds

Gray elements
Dominated the sky
With dampness all around.
Like a reed battered by time,
A lone soul, supported by
A synthetic device,
Shuffled down a long,
Empty, quiet street.

And steadfastly
Focusing ahead,
She was oblivious to all the
Leaden surroundings.
