Beautiful Green Trees
Trees are pointing to the sky with greener fingers
wearing new crowns of freshly grown leaves
the whole ambience being that of hope.
I see tufts of darkening clouds scurrying across the sky
temperatures inching up to summer levels
spring being the thing you think you see and feel safe
but in no time cumulus clouds will gather with their war drums and intense swords of lightning slashing the pies of clouds until the heavens cry.
How much shedding of tears in this season is worrisome
The weatherman says there will be El Nino this season
and there is reason to believe there will be little to no rain
such strain causing farmers to cry
Some say when spring is as freshly green as it is this year..all shades of green from the lightest to the darkest... it is a harbinger of good rains..
others say it is a bad omen.
There is no consensus, though, what we have noticed here in Zimbabwe,15 degrees south of the Equator, everytime we have elections, we get a drought.
Some say it is the infighting and contestation during the elections which cause the gods to be upset and when the gods are unhappy they sometimes forget to unlock the heavenly reservoirs of rain water.
Whatever will happen, this spring is full of beautiful green trees.
